Connect Xero

Connecting creates the link Yessort posts through. Under Integrations in your organisation's settings; needs organisation-admin access.

Before you start

You need access to the Xero account, with permission to authorise an app against the organisation you want to post to.

Know which Xero organisation this is for. An account can hold several, and you choose one in the next step — posting into the wrong set of books is tedious to undo.

Steps

  1. Go to Integrations in your organisation's settings.
  2. Start a new accounting connection and choose Xero.
  3. Sign in at Xero and authorise Yessort.
  4. You are returned to Yessort with the connection created.

What happens next

Nothing posts yet. A connection on its own is not enough — Yessort still needs to know which Xero organisation to use and which accounts to post to.

Continue with choose a Xero organisation, then finish onboarding.

If you would rather not connect anything

Manual accounting is the alternative: Yessort keeps categories, tax handling and records of what would post, but sends nothing anywhere.

Because there is no external system, there is no chart of accounts to map onto and nothing to re-authorise. It suits an organisation whose books are kept elsewhere by hand.

Entries from before you connected

Anything Yessort could not post because there was no connection was held, not discarded. Once you finish setting up, those entries are replayed — nightly, or on the next live attempt.

You do not need to find them or re-run anything. See hold, don't drop.

If the connection stops working

Its page has a Re-authorize action for renewing access without losing the connection or its history. A connection in error keeps its last error until the next successful sync clears it.
