Create a team

Under the organisation's Teams. Needs organisation-admin access.

Before you start

A team grants nothing and restricts nothing. Nothing in Yessort's access checks looks at team membership.

If you are creating a team so a group of people can do something, it will not work. That belongs to a role, and if none of the five fits, what a role grants can be changed.

If you are creating one to record who works the late shift, that is exactly what it is for.

Steps

  1. Go to the organisation's Teams and create one.
  2. Give it a name.
  3. Add members.
  4. Save.

Name it for what it records

Since the team does nothing on its own, its name and membership carry its whole meaning to whoever reads it.

"Warehouse supervisors" is a useful record of who they are. It is not a statement about their access — those people have exactly the permissions their roles give them, and would have them with or without the team.

A member can be in several

Teams are a plain grouping. Someone can be in more than one, and removing them from a team leaves the others untouched — and changes their access not at all.

If you need access to follow the group

It will not. The options are:

Give them the same role. If a group of people should be able to do the same things, that is what a role is.

Adjust what that role grants, if none of the five fits — bearing in mind it affects everyone holding it.

Set site scope if the difference is about where rather than what.
