How posting works
Between something happening in Yessort and an entry appearing in your accounts, there are three stages.
What Yessort posts
Yessort posts a small set of document types. Each comes from a specific event, and knowing which is which makes an unexpected entry easy to trace back.
Hold, don't drop
Some accounting entries cannot be built at the moment they are needed. There is no connection yet, or the account they require has not been mapped.
Accounting categories
Your accounting system organises everything into accounts. Yessort knows about products, orders and receipts. An accounting category is the join between the two: it says which account a particular kind of activity belongs in.
Tax categories
A tax category is Yessort's description of how something is taxed — standard-rated, zero-rated, out of scope. Your accounting system has its own tax codes. The mapping joins them.
Invoicing strategies
An invoicing strategy decides whether an order gets its own invoice, or is combined with others into one.
How COGS works
When stock is sold and leaves, two things need recording: the revenue coming in, and the cost of what went out. The second is cost of goods sold.
Payment methods and gateways
A payment method is how money reaches you: a card processor, a bank transfer, cash at a counter. A gateway is what a channel calls it in the data it sends.
Gateway payouts
A payment processor does not hand over money order by order. It collects payments, holds them, and pays a lump into your bank some days later.
Reconciling and tying out
A post succeeding means the provider accepted it. It does not prove the two systems still agree.
Editing an order after posting
Once an order has been invoiced, the invoice has been sent. Editing the order cannot un-send it.
