How channel orders arrive

An order placed on a connected store becomes a Yessort order without anyone typing it in. From that point it behaves like any other order — see how orders work — but how it got here, and what goes back to the store, are channel matters.

Yessort is told when an order is created, updated, edited, cancelled or paid, when a refund is created, and when the store's own fulfilment records change.

Two order numbers

A channel order keeps the store's own order number alongside the Yessort one. Both are shown, so you can always match an order in Yessort against the same order in the store — necessary the moment a customer quotes the number from their confirmation email.

How a line finds its site

An incoming line may carry a hint about which of the store's locations it is meant to come from. If it does, and that location is mapped to a Yessort site, the line goes to that site.

If the line carries no hint, or points at a location you marked ignored, it falls back to the mapping you set as the channel's default. This is why the wizard asks you to choose one.

Whether the store's hint is followed, or Yessort's own routing decides, is a per-channel setting. Where the two disagree the difference is recorded so you can see it.

Payment methods are discovered, not configured up front

An order carries the gateway it was paid through, as the store names it. Yessort does not require you to predict those names. The first time an unfamiliar one appears it is recorded as seen but unmapped, and shown to you.

Mapping it to a payment method also applies to the transactions that were waiting on it, so nothing is lost by mapping a gateway after the orders have started arriving. See map a payment gateway.

What goes back when you dispatch

Dispatching in Yessort posts the fulfilment to the store, with the tracking numbers for each box.

Whether the store emails the customer about it is a per-channel setting, and it is off by default: the fulfilment is posted, but quietly. Turn it on for a channel when you want the store to send its own shipping confirmation. It applies only to dispatches Yessort initiates — a dispatch the store reports to Yessort is not pushed back.

When the store reports a dispatch Yessort never made

Sometimes goods go out through the store without Yessort having allocated them. Yessort records the dispatched quantity on the order lines anyway, so the order does not wrongly read as unfulfilled. See fulfilment groups.
