Connect a Shopify store

Connecting a store creates two things: a connection holding the credentials, and a channel representing selling through that store.

This is under your organisation's Integrations settings and needs organisation-admin access.

Before you start

Have the store's domain, and an admin API access token for it with permission to read and write products, inventory, orders and fulfilments.

Make sure the store has at least one location set up. Yessort maps its locations to your sites in the next step, and cannot continue without one.

Steps

  1. Go to Integrations in your organisation's settings and start a new Shopify connection.
  2. Enter the Shop domain and the Admin API access token.
  3. Give the connection a Connection name. This labels the credentials — use the store's name if you only have one.
  4. Set the Channel name (shown to operators). This is what everyone sees against orders and listings, so make it recognisable at a glance: "EU store" rather than "Shopify 2".
  5. Choose the Currency. This is the currency of prices and orders on this channel, and it should match what the store actually sells in.
  6. Confirm the Organisation the channel belongs to.
  7. Save.

The connection is created, but the channel is not live yet. Nothing syncs and no orders arrive until you finish the remaining steps and activate it.

What happens next

The wizard continues into mapping the store's locations to your sites, then pulls the store's catalogue for you to review and commit, and finally activates the channel.

You do not have to do it all in one sitting. Staged work is kept for 30 days.

Connecting a second store

Repeat the process. Two stores are two connections and two channels, each with its own currency, price list and settings — even if they sell the same products. Connection names must be distinct, and so must channel names.

If the credentials stop working

The connection's page has a Re-authorize action for replacing credentials without losing the channel, its links or its history. Use it if the token is rotated or revoked.
