Set an account's invoicing strategy
This decides how a business is invoiced: one document per order, or one covering a day.
Under Customers → Accounts.
Steps
- Open the account.
- Set Invoicing strategy override.
- Save.
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Channel default | Do not override. The channel decides |
| Per-order invoice | Each order gets its own |
| Daily summary | A day's orders combined into one |
| Deferred | Settled later rather than invoiced per order |
The account beats the channel
Worth being clear about, because the intuition often runs the other way.
Setting this here overrides whatever the channel would have done. A trade customer set to a daily summary gets one whether they order through your trade portal or your public storefront.
Leaving it on Channel default hands the decision back — which is right when the channel's behaviour already suits this customer.
What still beats it
An order paid by more than one payment method always gets its own invoice, whatever this is set to. The payments would otherwise stop lining up with the document.
So if an account set to daily summary produces a per-order invoice occasionally, that is usually the reason rather than a fault.
Choosing
Daily summary for a business ordering repeatedly, where fifteen invoices a week helps nobody.
Per-order invoice where each order is treated separately and the customer expects a document matching it.
Deferred where the arrangement is to settle later rather than invoice each order as it goes.
The question is how this customer wants to be billed. It changes nothing about what is posted — the same revenue, the same tax, the same accounts — only how it is grouped.
