Customer fields
Under Customers.
Who they are
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| First name, Last name | Blanked when the customer is anonymised |
| Not unique. Several records can share one — see how customers work. Blanked on anonymising | |
| Phone | Blanked on anonymising |
| Company name | The business as the customer gave it. Not the same as a linked account |
The account link
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Customer account | Set = a B2B buyer acting for that business. Unset = a B2C buyer. There is no separate flag |
Linking is what makes someone a trade buyer, and it is where their commercial arrangement comes from. See customer accounts.
Addresses
A billing address, and delivery addresses. A customer can hold several; billing and delivery need not match.
Every address is blanked when the customer is anonymised.
Commercial
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Payment terms (days) | Beats their account's terms. The first link in the chain — see payment terms |
Identity on a channel
Where a customer came from a connected store, the store's own reference for them is kept separately, per channel. One customer can hold an identity on more than one.
This is how an incoming order is matched to the right customer despite the channel using its own identifiers.
Retention
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Retention expiry | When personal data should no longer be kept. Set on create, pushed back whenever they order again. Default window 84 months |
| Anonymised | Marks a record whose personal data has been blanked. The record and its orders remain |
See data retention and anonymising.
Scope
A customer belongs to one organisation. The same person buying from two of your organisations is two records, unconnected.
