Location types and behaviour

Every location has a type and two behaviour flags that decide how stock flows through it. See How Yessort models your warehouse for the basics on sites and locations before reading on.

The six types

• Standard — normal pickable stock, the everyday default.
• Quarantine — held pending inspection before it's released for sale.
• Damaged — not sellable; stock only arrives here via an adjustment.
• Receiving — staging for inbound goods before putaway.
• Dispatch — staging for outbound stock before it leaves the site.
• Virtual — a non-physical holder, such as stock in transit between sites — see how transfers work.

Pickable and receivable

Alongside its type, every location has two independent flags:

• Is pickable — the location can be a pick source for sales orders.
• Is receivable — the location accepts inbound stock.

These flags aren't fixed by type — they're set per location — but they typically follow the location's purpose. A receiving bay is usually receivable but not pickable: stock lands there before putaway, not before it's picked. A damaged-stock location is usually neither: it's a dead end that stock only reaches through an adjustment, not a location you'd pick from or receive into directly.

Pick-walk order

Each location has a sequence value that sets its position on the pick walk within its site — lower numbers come first.
