Check a variant's stock
Under Inventory → Variants.
Steps
- Go to Inventory → Variants.
- Search by name or SKU.
- Open the variant.
You get the current figures, the breakdown by location, and the movement history.
Read the location breakdown, not just the total
The total answers "how much"; only the breakdown answers "where", and the second is usually the one that matters.
Forty units across four locations at two sites is a different situation from forty in one place. If you are deciding whether you can fulfil something today, the breakdown is the answer.
When the total is not what you expected
Work through these in order:
Check the buckets. On-hand is not the same as sellable — stock can be reserved, in quarantine, damaged, in receiving, staged for dispatch or in transit. See stock quantities.
Check for stock in receiving. A delivery received but never put away sits in a receiving location and is not sellable. This is the most common explanation.
Check other sites. The figure may include a site you were not thinking about.
Check the movement history. If the number changed recently, what changed it is recorded — see review stock movements.
A negative figure
A location can show less than zero. It means units went out that Yessort has no record of ever holding, and it is a real state rather than a fault — Yessort never forces it back to zero.
See how negative stock happens.
Lot information
Where the variant is tracked in lots, expiry and best-before dates show against the stock.
No lot information means no lots were ever recorded for this variant, which is normal for most stock.
Deciding whether to reorder
Last ordered and lead time sit alongside the stock figures, so the reordering question can be answered without leaving the page. See reordering.
Changing what you find
To correct a figure, adjust the stock. To put it somewhere else, move it.
