Set up a pick queue

Queues let you route different kinds of work to different pickers and methods.

  1. Go to Picking, then Configure queues, then select New queue — this opens the New pick queue dialog.
  2. Enter a Name for the queue.
  3. Choose the Pick method — single order, pile, cluster, or two-stage. See the pick methods reference for what each one means.
  4. Set Orders per run — the most a single run built from this queue may hold. It defaults to 8.
  5. Turn on Pick + pack in one step if a run from this queue should be packed as it's picked, rather than packed separately afterwards.
  6. If you chose the two-stage method, a Fetch zones field appears: pick the zones stock is fetched from to the bench before picking starts.
  7. Under Match orders where…, set the rules that decide which work lands in this queue. All conditions you set must hold together. In the order they appear:
    • Stock zones — whether the order's stock must sit Anywhere (no zone restriction), All stock within… the zones you pick (every line must sit inside them), or Touches… the zones you pick (any line in them is enough).
    • Zone span — whether the order's stock must come from a Single zone only, Spans multiple zones, or Any.
    • Products — whether Every line matches or At least one line matches the product filters below, plus a Single-line orders only toggle.
    • Categories, Brands and Tags — pick the values a line must match.
    • Channels — restrict to orders from specific sales channels.
    • Couriers (comma-separated) and Shipping services (comma-separated) — restrict by the requested carrier or service.
    • Min order value and Max order value — restrict by order value.
  8. Turn on Active (paused queues keep sorting, stop serving) to let the queue serve runs — a paused queue still classifies work, it just won't hand any of it out. Turn on Default (catches everything unmatched) to make this the fallback queue for work that matches nothing else.
  9. Select Create queue.

Queues aren't given an explicit position in this form — they're checked in a fixed order, and the first one whose conditions all match wins. Anything that matches nothing lands in the default queue.

tip

Work is classified per consignment, not per fulfilment group, so a single order's fulfilment groups can land in different queues if they dispatch separately. See fulfilment groups for how an order splits across sites.
