Add a unit of measure

This is the recipe for adding a unit of measure — a pack size such as a Case of 12 — to a variant.

  1. Go to Catalogue → Products, open the product, then select the variant in the Variants table to open its detail sheet.
  2. In the Units of measure section, select Add UoM.
  3. Enter a Code, a Name for the pack (for example "Case of 12"), and how many base units it contains under Quantity in base. All three are required — the dialog won't submit without them.
  4. Tick Purchasable if this pack size should be selectable on a goods-in line and in the receiving scan console's Each / By-case selector — leave it unticked if operators should never receive against it directly. Tick Sellable if it should be able to carry its own sales price list entry; both are ticked by default.
  5. Select Add.

To change a unit of measure later, open its row menu in the same table and select Edit packaging. The base unit's code and quantity are locked — only its name, weight, and the purchasable and sellable flags can change.

Barcodes are recorded separately, against the unit of measure — see add barcodes to a variant.
