Create a product

A product groups one or more variants — see how the catalogue works for what lives on the product versus the variant. Creating a product and its first variants is one operation on one page.

  1. Go to Catalogue → Products and select New product.
  2. On the Product details card, fill in:
    • Organisation — which organisation the product belongs to.
    • Type — one of Physical, Digital, Made to order, Gift card or Service. This is locked once the product is created and sets the starting stock-tracking default for its variants — see product types for the full picture before you pick.
    • Name — required.
    • Brand, Category and Tags — all optional.
    • Description — optional.
  3. If the product varies — by size, colour, or anything else — add Options in the Options card: name each option and give it its values. Variants are generated automatically for every combination. See options and variants for how options and values work, and what can still change later.
  4. In the Variants card, set a SKU for every variant. The Shared defaults bar applies a SKU template, weight, status and stock-tracking setting to every row at once — a template like CTEE-{size}-{color} fills in each row's SKU from its option values. Individual rows can still be overridden: open a row's menu and choose Edit details… to set its title, weight, country of origin, HS code or status on its own, or Barcodes… to give it a primary barcode. To skip a combination you don't want, tick its row's checkbox to select it, then choose Skip in the bulk-edit bar that appears — the row's checkbox is only a selection control, so ticking or unticking it on its own does not skip or unskip anything.
  5. Select the button in the bottom right. It reads Create product for a single variant, or Create N variants once there's more than one — there's no separate "Save" step. On success you land on the new product's page with a toast confirming it was created.

If a SKU collides

Creation is all-or-nothing: if any variant's SKU already exists in the organisation, the whole product is rejected and nothing is created. Check the error and adjust the clashing SKU before submitting again.

After creation

Add or edit the cover image, description, tags, brand and category from the product's own page — see product and variant fields for where each field is set. To add another variant later, see add a variant.
