Changing a routing decision
Routing runs when an order arrives, or when a draft order is confirmed. What happens afterwards, if the answer is wrong?
Editing your rules will not do it
An order records the rule set version that routed it, and that record is never re-evaluated. Changing your rules affects orders routed after the change and nothing already in flight.
This is deliberate and worth keeping: without it, every rule edit would move live work around the warehouse mid-pick, and nobody would dare tune anything. See rule sets and versions.
Stock arriving elsewhere will not do it either
Routing is decided per order, at the point the order is routed. Stock landing at another site afterwards does not cause a sweep that moves existing orders to it.
So an order can sit assigned to one site while a better candidate quietly becomes available. That is the trade for stability, and it is why the fallback site matters — it is where the genuinely unfulfillable end up, and it is worth watching.
What you can change
Set the site on a line that has none. A line the engine could not assign lands in the order review queue as no fulfilment site. Until you set one, its stock is not reserved and is unprotected, so this is the urgent case. See resolve an order in review.
Restructure the fulfilment groups. On a planned group you can carve lines off into a new group at the same site, or merge planned groups back together. This only applies before picking starts — once a group is underway its lines are fixed. See fulfilment groups.
What is not available
There is no re-route action that runs the engine again over an order and moves it to a different site. If an order is assigned to the wrong site and has not started picking, the practical route is to handle it as a fulfilment-group change rather than expecting routing to be redone.
Getting it right next time
Since after-the-fact correction is limited, the leverage is in the rules. The exceptions queue is the best available signal of where your rules and reality diverge, and working it down is what reduces wrong assignments at source.
