Licence plates
A licence plate is a scannable container — a pallet, carton or gaylord — that holds stock and moves as a single unit. It belongs to one site, and gets a code like LPN-0001 automatically. Its type is descriptive only: a pallet doesn't behave any differently from a carton or a gaylord. The screen for working with them is Inventory → Licence plates.
Licence plates are only available on a site using advanced locations.
Creating one
A licence plate is created in one of two ways: from the register on the Licence plates screen, or against a line while receiving a delivery.
Plated lines skip putaway
A goods receipt line that's assigned to a licence plate skips putaway entirely — instead of going through a putaway task, the whole plate is moved later in one step with scan-to-move. See how putaway works for what happens to that goods receipt's other, loose lines.
Where a plate can be moved to
A destination has to be an active location at the plate's own site. Beyond that, scan-to-move checks the destination's own rules: its maximum units, whether it accepts more than one SKU, and whether it accepts more than one lot.
If the move breaks one of those rules, Yessort says which one and asks for a reason before going ahead. You can move the plate anyway — you're stood in front of the location and may know something the settings don't — and the reason is recorded against the movement.
Closing a plate
A licence plate is closed by selecting Close, which is enabled only once the plate is empty — closing isn't automatic. There's no reopening a closed plate, and no deleting one.
What the rest of Yessort actually sees
Receiving and scan-to-move are the only parts of Yessort that work with licence plates directly. Picking, counting, pick-face replenishment, transfers and stock availability all treat everything sitting at a location as one pile, regardless of which plate — if any — it's on.
That means stock on a licence plate counts towards what's available, and it can be picked, counted, replenished and transferred like any other stock at that location. When one of those needs more than the location holds loose, Yessort takes the difference off the plate automatically, oldest plate first. The plate's contents go down accordingly, and the movement history shows it happening.
So a plate empties as its stock is used, and can then be closed. There's no separate step for taking stock off a plate.
A plate sitting in a location that isn't pickable — the site's receiving location, for instance — holds stock that doesn't count towards availability, the same as any other stock there. Moving the plate into a pickable location is what makes it sellable.
Licence plates are managed on the web — there is no offline or phone version.
