Count a location
- Go to Inventory → Counting.
- Select Count next to claim the oldest task waiting to be counted, or select Count (to claim it) or Resume (if it's already claimed) on a specific row.
- Enter a quantity for every line.
- Select Submit count.
If blind counting is on for your organisation — the default — you won't see the expected quantity for a line while you're counting it. What happens next depends on the tolerance gate: a line within tolerance posts automatically on submit and never shows you the expected quantity, while a line outside tolerance goes to the review queue, where the expected quantity appears once that review is resolved.
Something not on the list
On a whole-location task, select Add item found in this bin to add a line for something physically there that the task didn't already expect. Search for it by SKU or title, then enter its quantity like any other line. This control doesn't appear on a task scoped to a single variant.
The location is empty
Also on whole-location tasks only, select Bin is empty to record every line as zero in one go. A confirmation dialog opens; select Record empty bin to go ahead. Large discrepancies from this still go to review before any stock changes — recording a location as empty doesn't bypass the tolerance gate.
Starting a count yourself
New count is both the button that opens the dialog and the dialog's own title — the button that actually creates the task is Create count. The same pattern applies to New session, which creates a count session: the button and the dialog share a name, and the submitting button is Create session. Don't click either dialog's opening button a second time expecting it to submit.
A session left on Whole site, or narrowed to a zone, covers storage locations only: receiving, dispatch, in-transit and virtual locations are left out, because their contents are mid-flow rather than stored. To count one of those anyway, name it — add it under Or specific bins, which is honoured exactly as given, or use New count or the Count now control on the location's own page.
What happens on submit
Lines within both tolerances post straight away — there's nothing further to do with them. Anything outside tolerance goes to the review queue instead of posting; see review count variances for what happens to it there. Either way, the screen then offers you the next task to count.
