Resolve a transfer shortfall

Once a transfer is In transit, any dispatched units not yet accounted for at the destination show under Still on the van. Every one of them has to be resolved one of three ways before the transfer can complete. See transfer shortfalls for what "short at source" and "still on the van" mean and how they differ.

Found later — receive​

Use this when the units turn up after all.

  1. Open the transfer while it is In transit.
  2. Under Still on the van, select Found later — receive.
  3. The units go on hand at the destination site, placed the same way a goods receipt would be: at a destination using advanced locations they stage into the receiving location and raise a putaway task; at a destination using simple locations they land straight in the variant's usual location. Only a virtual destination holds them at site level.

Return to stock​

Use this when the units never left the source site, or have come back to it.

  1. Open the transfer while it is In transit.
  2. Under Still on the van, select the return button — it names the source site, so a transfer out of "Leeds warehouse" shows Return to Leeds stock.
  3. Yessort relocates the units out of the source site's in-transit location and into a location at the source site: its default location if one is set, otherwise its first active receiving or standard location. If the source site has no location that can take them, Yessort asks you to choose one — the message reads "No bin to return the shortfall into — pick a location at the source site."

The source site's stock is unchanged overall by the round trip — the units simply come back to where they started.

Write off​

Use this when the units are genuinely gone.

  1. Open the transfer while it is In transit.
  2. Under Still on the van, select Write off.
  3. Yessort writes the units off out of the source site's in-transit location, and the organisation's on-hand falls by that quantity.

The transfer completes on its own​

There is no Complete button. Once every dispatched unit on every line has been received, returned or written off, the transfer completes automatically.
